Situational Leadership: Adapting Leadership Styles to Team Needs
Situational leadership is a flexible approach wherein leaders are adaptive; they adjust their styles depending on the needs of their team members and the tasks that need to be performed. According to Hersey and Blanchard, in this model, it is concluded that leadership behavior-whether it is directing, coaching, supporting, or delegating-shall vary with regard to the maturity level of the team and the complexity of the task. This gives dynamic and responsiveness on the part of the leader to make sure utmost support and direction for progress and performance.
